The embattled founder of the International God’s Way Church Bishop Daniel Angle Obinim has been granted bail, his lawyer has confirmed.
The miracle worker, who was not in court today, was granted bail with two sureties for each of the offences for which he was arrested. It is unclear the bail bond or the amount involved.
Bishop Angle Obinim has been in Police custody since Tuesday when he was
arrested for fraud. On Wednesday fanatics of the controversial preacher
clashed with the Police as they demanded his release from custody.
Meanwhile, his lawyer, Atta Akyea has said his client is being used by the Police to shift attention from the pardon granted to the Montie three by the President.
Background
The controversial miracle worker was detained at the Nima Police station on Tuesday and spent the night in Police cells after his arrest over a GHC11.6 million fraud.
Obinim was arrested in Tema and transferred to the Accra Police headquarters for questioning. He was later charged for defrauding under false pretense.
Public Relations Officer of the Police CID ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa stated a complaint was lodged with the Police in Tema a few weeks ago by a businessman who said he gave an amount of GH¢780,000 to Okomfo Gyapata of Mampong Nkwanta near Koforidua in the Eastern region to do a spiritual ritual to bless the money obtained from a gold deal.
ASP Darkwa narrated that the complainant added after some time, he realised that the Okomfo was not able to help him neither was he able to return his money, so he went to Bishop Angle Obinim to help him retrieve the money and do the rituals to bless the money for him.
ASP Darkwa said it was based on that, that Bishop Angle Obinim asked the businessman to bring the rest of the gold money which amounted to GH¢11.6 million belonging to the family.
The complainant told the police since he gave the money to the Bishop in November last year, Angle Obinim has not been able to do what he was expected to do neither has he given him back his money.

Obinim Justifies Church Flogging As Gender Ministry Reports Him To DOVVSU
Bishop Obinim
Bishop Daniel Obinim quoted Proverbs 13: “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes” [King James Version] to defend his action.
“These children are staying with us and because of our job we have been traveling. They had an affair resulting in a pregnancy and the girl decided to take concoction to abort the pregnancy.
What would have happened if she had died out of that?” he asked in an audio released Thursday.
A video showing the controversial pastor lashing two adults with his belt in front of his congregants for allegedly having an affair resulting in pregnancy has gone viral on social media for days now.
In the video, Bishop Obinim was seen wielding his belt and giving the gentleman 10 lashes and the lady 15 lashes in his bid to instill discipline in them.
Ghanaians have expressed their disappointment in the action of the Bishop Daniel Obinim.
A member of the Association of Concerned Clergy Men (ACCM) said the action of the man of God amounts to an assault which is punishable by laws of the country.
Bishop Benny Wood told Dzifa Bampoh, host of Joy FM’s Newsnite programme that Bishop Obinim’s action does not conform to the ethics of Christianity.
“We have laws in the Bible that were used in the church and homes [but] the church is a place to train people to believe in God. By what he did he is exhibiting his lack of understanding of the scripture,” he said.
The Bible says if a blind man leads another blind man they will all end up in the ditch, he added.
But reacting to the angst of Ghanaians, Bishop Obinim said as the guardian of the teenagers, he has the right to discipline them.
He entreated Ghanaians to focus on what he would be accused of had the girl been harmed by the concoction.
“I was having a service in Accra when Jesus Christ opened my eyes to what they had done. What would I say to her parents?” he quizzed.
Meanwhile, the Gender Minister posted on Facebook:
"The Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection has reported Pastor Obinim of International Godsway Church to the Accra Regional DOVVSU Office for investigation.
We have been informed, that the Police has commenced investigations into the matter and a complaint has also been filed against him at the Tema Regional Police.
We will keep you posted on further developments."
Communications aide at the Ministry, Robert Akoto Amoafo, told Joy News, the Ministry will not hesitate to ensure Bishop Obinim faces the law.

Amnesty International Wants Immediate Arrest of Bishop Obinim
Amnesty International Ghana has joined in the chorus for the arrest of the Founder and General Overseer of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim.
The Man of God who has been embroiled in series of controversies, has been captured on a three-minute video subjecting a 19-year old pregnant church member of his to severe beatings with a black leather belt, accusing her of fornication.
The young man believed to have impregnated the girl equally had his
fare share of beatings according to the video that has gone viral on
various media platforms.
An Aide to Bishop Obinim Joseph Oppong Brenya who justify the action, indicated that he chose that punitive action to serve as a deterrent to others during prophecy time when he was in the ‘spirit’.
“As a father if your child goes wrong you have to discipline them to serve as a deterrent to others.
Impregnating the lady is not the problem but terminating it, which is very bad. And as a man of God he [Obinim] will not tolerate such action in his church or even among his children and that is why he called and punished them to serve as a deterrent to others who will want to engage in things like that.
“He [the boy] bought drugs and gave it to the young lady to terminate the pregnancy; any father on this earth will take that action. The girl nearly lost her life,” he claimed.
Mr Brenya revealed that the Man of God pays their bills and everything they need is provided for by the pastor and their family is aware of this.
According to him, Bishop Obinim is not disturbed about the criticisms from a section of the public.
But Director of Amnesty International Ghana Lawrence Amesu has described his conduct is barbaric and criminal, warranting an immediate arrest.
“…The public should be really upset,” he said Thursday in an interview with Accra based 3FM and that must be strongly condemned.
“…For Amnesty International,” said Mr. Amesu “we think that Bishop Obinim is going beyond his jurisdiction at this time. This is a criminal offence [and] he should be arrested by the Police.”
According to him, the notorious man of God’s conduct in the said video is a grave human right abuse stressing that Amnesty international and indeed all other Human Rights activists, condemn “this action totally.”

We Don’t Just Want To Sing, We Want To Empower People – Jeshurun Okyere
Jeshurun Okyere
According the ‘Healing Stream’ singer, he thinks more about impact this year not shows, “we believe the event and music is only a starting point for young people in Africa to begin to think about the great times we live in Africa now.
We want our patrons to walk out of the venue not only singing but also thinking” he said.
Jeshurun went on to explain that, this is not just an idea but that’s what worship is; thinking.
“It’s meant to connect man to his Maker and make him a thinker. Anytime we worship the God (creative) side of our lives is activated. The great Christian writers of our old days did not just write hymns but changed the trajectory of their generation. It’s only unfortunate in our days that most of us see the worship agenda as entertainment.”
Jesh opined that Worship can therefore be ignited any time the President (God) and the Vice President (man) meet.“Who is Man? Man is God’s vice regent/president over the earth. Man was created to have dominion over the economy, politics, sanitation, etc. God expects the world to be perfect once his vice is around there. But what do we see today”? he asked
It will be a platform to receive ideas, healing in finances, etc from God and network among ourselves to take dominion over this nation because it’s an election year.
“In a nutshell, I want to invite ALL to join us in this historic moment. It’s going to be mind blowing. An atmosphere of intense worship that breeds signs and wonders” he ended.

NDC Boys Threaten Pastors
Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey and Pastor Mensa Otabil
It has emerged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Communications Team members who threatened to kill the judges promised
to kill some pastors as well.
They specifically mentioned Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church; Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Christian Council General Secretary, Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frempong, as their targets.
These comments were specifically uttered by Alistair Nelson on a pro-NDC radio station – Montie FM – which is a sister station to Radio Gold at Latebiokoshie, Accra – during a political talk show programme called ‘Pampaso’ hosted by Salifu Maase, popularly called Mugabe.
On the same programme, the justices of the Supreme Court were threatened with death.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) has virtually cleared the NDC activists of any criminal intention.
According to the BNI, “Alistair Tairo Nelson, 41 and Godwin Ako Gunn, 39, are incapable of harming the judges.”
The security agency, in a statement issued on Thursday, disclosed that “further checks by the BNI have, however, established that the suspects were incapable of carrying out their pronouncements but did so in a show of needless bravado.”
Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and Oti Bless, are all NDC activists and regular panelists on Montie FM – which is noted for vitriolic attacks on opponents of the ruling NDC, as well as the use of intemperate language heavily aided by the host, Mugabe who claims that he was not afraid of jail.
They said the Supreme Court judges had complained that there was too much tension in the country and so they (panelists) accused the judges of stoking the tension with their decisions, with Mugabe asking, “Where is the pressure coming from?”
Alistair Nelson then said, “And now you hear, Peace Council, Bishop Conference, Muslim Council. They have turned the thing into politics. And some have come out openly to support Nana Addo.
“Ei! You people. With all that’s going on. Look at Otabil, E.A. Martey,” and Mugabe fired and Opuni-Frempong.”
“Do they think that they can run?” Alistair quizzed.
Alistair threatened again, “Have you climbed a hill before? When you get up you do exercises in your rooms.
You have gone to buy machines (treadmill). You have gone beyond 60 and 65 years, and you are sitting on machines and so you think you have become strong in the room. When the war happens we will see where you will pass.
“Ask the Liberians, Sierra Leone, Burundi. So we the youth have to rise up and to prevent the election of a dictator, a looming dictator that wants to destroy our society. That’s what they want to do.
“With all the leaders in Ghana, I have begged the head of the CID, be they political leaders, church leaders, business leaders in this country, we should seize everyone’s passport and place them at the Bank of Ghana.
Mugabe then fired, “Take Georgina Wood’s passport!”
Alistair retorted “Take the passport of all the judges. Period! Thank you!”
